The wedding is still a few months away. Although so much planning has gone into this lifetime event, there is still so much to do. Suddenly, the bride and groom are told there is no time left. The wedding will take place in the next few moments. This is what they have both been waiting for, and although there are still so many little details to do, none of that seems to matter. They have watched and waited for this moment, and they are ready. As beautiful as the event that is taking place may be, it cannot compare to what awaits us.
“No ear has ever heard, no eye has ever seen, any God but you doing such deeds for those who wait for him.”
This is what we wait for as children of the Lord. We are waiting with deep longing for the time when He will come. The details won’t matter to us either; all that will matter is His face shining on us. The question is are we ready? Are we watchful and ready? Are we prepared for the moment we will see His face?
Jesus said, “Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.” Like any big event in our lives, we plan, and Jesus is telling us,”This is the biggest event you will ever behold!” Our entire lives, we are being prepared, we are waiting, we are longing deep inside for the coming of our Lord. The day when His face will be shown and we will feel the fullness of His glory shining upon us.
Each day is another opportunity for us to prepare ourselves for this time. To be watchful and ready. Our Lord and Savior spoke these words with urgency and conviction. Their meaning holds just as true today as it did the moment He said them.
What we have on this earth, what we accomplish, or what we succeed at cannot begin to compare to what is to come when His face shines upon us.
