Women in Prison Conference: Justice for Survivor-Defendants
This event brings together everyone from social service providers, lawyers, formerly incarcerated people, state and local decision-makers, to community members for a weekend looking at the impact of criminal systems on women.
The focus this year is on justice for defendants who are survivors of domestic violence – what reforms will better recognize and more fully consider the effects of abuse and how that abuse contributed to intersecting with criminal systems, with the aim of achieving fairer outcomes for survivor-defendants? How can criminal systems better respond to the needs of survivor-defendants, their families and the community?
The schedule for Saturday, Nov. 16 is 8:15am-4:30pm. The schedule for Sunday, Nov. 17 is 8:30am-3:00pm.
This event is promoted by the Archdiocese of Portland, OR Office of Prison Ministry.
